Library thing

I found Library Thing to be a very useful tool. I enjoyed setting up my own library, and being able to "connect" with other readers with similar tastes. The best part was being able to look at other member's libraries and get ideas about books that you may not have known about. Overall, a fun web site!

Twittering the afternoon away!

Thing #12 of the 23 things for CML was to explore the hottest new thing online - Twitter! I am currently a user of Facebook , and I was curious to just what the difference was between the two; and from what I see - not too much. Facebook has been great for me since I began using it about 4 months ago. I have been "reunited" with family, and friends who I never see or hear from. I have even been in contact with some grade school friends who I have not seen in 20 years! I'm sure that if I continue to use Twitter I will be pleasantly surprised by all the re-connections that I make.

I found Twitter to be enjoyable; however I think that I prefer Facebook. It just seems easier and more user friendly!

What interests me about technology?

Over the past few years, I have grown very interested in the new technology of Music. In particular, the changing of the guard from cassettes and compact discs to MP3's and I pods.

I own an I Pod and I do not see how I was able to get along in the first 30 years of my life without one. This is one item that I truly use everyday. I am constantly listening to my music as well as various podcasts that I enjoy.

I have always been a music fan, and have a large collection of cassettes and cds. However in 2009, you just do not see music in this form like you used to. Everyone has evolved to the digital age of I pods, Zunes, and other MP3 players. After high school, I worked at a Music store in my hometown that did a great business selling cassettes and cds; in 2004 they went out of business. Why? Due to the new digital age of music.

My First Two Months!

Could it really be that I have been a CML employee for two months already? Where has the time gone? It seems like only yesterday that I had my On-Boarding class!

My time with CMl has been great so far! I am still learning, but I feel that I have come along way since day one. I would like to thank lots of people for all the help they have given me. Big thanks to the Livingston staff for their patience and guidance with me while I learn. Thank you as well to Shirley and Jane for being so understanding when I had to miss a few days for a personal matter. I also want to thank Chip Patzer, and the Main Circulation staff for being so good to me while I was at Main for training.

I have really enjoyed working at the Livingston branch. In these tough economic times, we can truly say that libraries make a huge difference! Our patrons are depending on us more than ever, and it feels good to leave work knowing that you may have helped someone that day.

I tried to get on with CML for so long, it took a long time, and was not easy. I can honestly say that I feel blessed to be here!
